Caring for Your Silk Pieces

Washing instructions:

As silk is a natural delicate protein-based fibre it requires special attention when caring for them (and better cared for at home than at the dry cleaner).  Proper care will help prolong the luxurious quality of silk jersey

  • Cold gentle hand wash inside out with a pH neutral delicates detergent (silk/wool wash)
  • Do not machine wash
  • Wash with like colours, as dark colours are likely to fade
  • Do not use harsh chemicals as these will damage with fine silk fibres
  • Do not soak, rub or wring
  • Gently squeeze out excess water
  • Do not bleach
  • Line dry in shade
  • Do not dry in the sun as this will cause the colour to fade
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Cool iron only with cloth
  • Allow for possible 5% shrinkage

Some pilling may occur in areas of friction from the short and delicate fine silk fibres that gradually wear down and shed, forming small pills; this is not a manufacturer fault but the nature of the delicate silk jersey.

Please only use cold water when washing your silk jersey pieces as heat can weaken the bond between fibres and increase the likelihood of pilling.

Do not use a de-pilling comb as it will damage the delicate silk fibres.

Proper care for your silk jersey pieces will prolong the lifespan and maintain its softness and comfort.
